FAQ’S

What is the Stem Cell Facelift?

The Stem Cell Facelift is a complete facial rejuvenation procedure that does not involve any surgery. The main outcome is the restoration of the youthful contours and shape of the face as well as improvement in skin quality, tightness and color irregularities.  The procedure also reduces the need for other routine interventions such as Botox and cosmetic filler injections.

What does the procedure entail?

A syringe is used to remove subcutaneous fat from the abdomen or outer thigh. The removed fat is then enriched with isolated stem cells and growth factors and transplanted to the areas of concern in the face. The Stem cells allow for the formation of new blood supply as well as support tissue, ensuring the structural integrity and survival of the graft. In this manner, a complete facial rejuvenation is achieved.  The procedure is performed in a sterile operating room setting and performed under local anesthetic.

How is this procedure different than conventional fat grafting or lipo-transfers?

As initially described, the Stem Cell Facelift entails the transplant of fat plus stem cells and specific growth factors to facial regions allowing  these cells to regenerate into specific cell types which support the graft and ensures survival of the fat tissue.

What is the recovery time?

The vast majority of patients recover from this procedure in anywhere from 7 to 10 days depending upon the severity of the aging process and the procedure tailored to that individual patient. Mild swelling and redness of the skin is present, similar to sunburn.  An improvement in the overall facial contour is noted immediately and for the following weeks, residual swelling will decrease. The volume and the shape of the face stabilize at 10 to 14 days.

Am I a candidate?

The Stem Cell Facelift is an ideal procedure for patients wishing to achieve facial rejuvenation and skin improvement without the risks of surgery or the associated recovery time. It is ideal for patients with moderate facial aging.  As the procedure is customized according to the patients’ individual aging process those patients who want to achieve a natural look with a marked youthful appearance are ideal candidates.

Are there any follow-up procedures involved?

It is recommended that patients undergo a second growth factor injection at approximately six weeks after the initial procedure to help with ongoing stimulation of the transplanted cells. This is done in the consultation room  and results in virtually no downtime, bruising or discoloration of the skin.
